한편 미군은 집에 들어가던 중 소규모 화기의 공격을 받았으며, 자기방어를 위해 대응했다고 발표했습니다. 미군은 이 사건을 계속 조사 중이다.

미군은 이와 별도로 2일 바그다드 남부에서 벌어진 교전 중 민간인 9명이 숨지고 3명이 부상을 입었다고 말했습니다. 미군은 민간인 희생에 대해 유감을 표했다.

U.S. and Iraqi officials say a U.S. raid on a central Iraqi village has killed two men and a woman, and wounded at least one child.

An Iraqi military officer says a farmer, his wife and their adult son were killed Monday in a raid that targeted their small house in Al-Dawr, east of Tikrit. Their daughter was wounded.

The U.S. military says troops came under small arms fire when they entered the house, and they returned fire in self-defense.

U.S. authorities said the incident is under investigation.In a statement Monday, the military also said nine civilians were killed and three wounded in a shooting incident Saturday (near Iskandariyah, 50 kilometers) south of Baghdad.

The military says it regrets the loss of civilian lives.
